De raadswerkgroep milieu komt dagelijks in Brussel bijeen om de regelgevende voorstellen te bekijken die door de Europese Commissie i naar de Raad van Ministers i worden gestuurd . Deskundigen kunnen worden bijeengeroepen om gelijktijdig met de groep te vergaderen. Deze Raadswerkgroepen bestaan vaak uit ambtenaren uit de lidstaten van de EU i. Na behandeling van de voorstellen door de werkgroep gaan deze naar de Raad Milieu.
