The European Commission (College of Commissioners) visits Cyprus for a meeting with the Cyprus government (the President and the Council of Ministers). The European Commission will attend the opening ceremony of the Cyprus Presidency (5/7/2012) and have meetings on the priorities of the Presidency and policy issues with the Cyprus government.

Van 1 juli tot en met 31 december 2012 vervulde Cyprus het voorzitterschap van de Europese Unie. Het Cypriotisch voorzitterschap werkte nauw samen met de vorige twee voorzitterschappen: Polen en Denemarken. Deze drie landen vormden samen een 'trojka' (of trio) van opeenvolgend voorzittende landen. Ze hadden samen een programma voor de hele periode opgesteld.
