Cypriotisch voorzitterschap EU nodigt bloggers uit om mee te debatteren over Europese vraagstukken (en) - Hoofdinhoud
On July 26 the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union will organise an event in Brussels bringing together European bloggers. Starting from today those wishing to participate may register for the event.
Citizen participation is at the heart of European politics. New digital social platforms can facilitate citizen participation, while citizen journalism and social media make the discourse in European issues accessible. In an effort to support the interaction of bloggers, the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union will convene a meeting to bring bloggers from Cyprus and Europe together.
The meeting will be web-streamed and recorded, while Wi-Fi connectivity will allow on-line participation. The discussion will be structured around the four thematic priorities of the Presidency:
-
-Europe, more efficient and sustainable;
-
-Europe, with a better performing and growth economy;
-
-Europe, more relevant to its citizens, with solidarity and social cohesion;
-
-Europe in the world, closer to its neighbors.
However, the meeting will also serve the purposes of, for example, identifying best practices to generate interest and participation in the EU political debate as well as how to enhance citizen journalism and social media in less favourable contexts.
The Cyprus Presidency hopes that this informal event will provide bloggers with an opportunity to meet the Presidency and to make an acquaintance with the pan-European blogosphere.
The event will be hosted in the Justus Lipsius building (Press Bar) at the seat of the Council of the EU on 26 July 2012 from 09:30 to 14:00.
To register, click on the banner to the right.
Registration will be open until 23 July 2012 at 12:00.
The Cyprus Presidency is looking forward to meeting you in Brussels!
