Daintel, a provider of software solutions developed specifically to specialist hospital departments was awarded the 2012 EU SME eHealth Competition first prize. Daintel has achieved a 50% market share in Denmark in just 18 months, and now the company is focused on expanding to other European markets.
The prize has been awarded by Mrs. Neelie Kroes Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for the Digital Agenda, during the eHealth Week at Copenhagen. "I was reminded of just how much innovation and impact those smaller companies can make, when I awarded the best ideas for active and healthy ageing. This competition, organised by TICBioMed and the European Commission, was a good opportunity to recognise the contribution of smaller companies - and give their wonderful work the spotlight it deserves, for the general public but also potential customers, partners and investors," states Mrs. Kroes in the latest blog post.
Medisana Space, a German company that develops medical Apps for smartphones, was awarded the second prize.
The third prize was awarded to Cetrea (DK). Using large screens with the most advanced touch technology Cetrea is providing the clinicians a complete overview of the patients and their status, personnel, capacity and much more. Furthermore the system facilitates a more effective communication between clinicians and departments using text-messaging and video-feeds.
One of the main objectives of the SME eHealth Competition was to support the Small and Medium Enterprises' (SMEs) by providing unique visibility close to advanced marketing opportunities - all being able to attract new customers, partners and additional financial resources.
